First, you should do some research. There are two types of MCSE courses. One is for Windows 2000 while the other is for 2003. For those that want to pursue a certification for Windows 2003, two examples of the six core exams that you have to take are 70-290 and 70-291. There is also one elective you have to choose from such as 70-294.

You can look at the codes of each of these by going to the main website of Microsoft. The questions given will be tough so you shouldn’t expect to get the correct answer in each question. When you do make a mistake, don’t worry because you will always find an explanation.

There are those that say the best MCSE test prep is the one given in a boot camp. This is because the person will be in the company of other individuals that will be reviewing for the exam. The only problem is the cost because this is usually around $4,000 to $6,000 but this already covers room and board, food and all the review material.

Should the price of going to boot camp is way above your budget, you can try enrolling in an online review program. It will also tackle the same subjects and the best part is that you can learn at your own time and convenience.

If several of your coworkers have undergone such a program and still have the MCSE test prep materials in their possession, you can probably buy it at a certain price or borrow it if this is all right.

It is also possible to buy the MCSE test prep stuff from the bookstore since it consists of a book and a CD that costs $1,000.

You should only schedule the MCSE exam only when you are ready for it. You will have to pay $200 but at least you can pay this using your credit card if this will be done online.

MCSE test prep is designed to help you become more competent when it comes to using one of the two Windows operating systems. This just goes to show that working for a year or a little longer is not enough to become an expert.

But when you do pass the exam and get the certification, this will truly open more career opportunities for you. After all, employers want qualified people to run the computers and not someone with just a bachelor's degree fresh out of college.
