Exam 70-270

Working On Exam 70-270

With the success of Windows 2000, Microsoft decided to launch another one in 2003. In order to be a Microsoft Certified Professional, you have to take a series of exams and one of it is 70-270.

MCSE 70-270 was launched on March 4, 2002. This is just one of the 5 core exams that you have to pass in order to be Microsoft certified. You can only be eligible for the exam if you have been working in the IT industry for at least a year so you will not have that much difficultly when taking review classes.

The purpose of MCSE 70-270 is to measure the candidate's ability to administer, implement and troubleshoot programs that incorporate the Windows XP Professional Operating system.

The exam can be summarized into 6 important things.

The first is the installation of the operating system. As network administrator, you should be able to program this into the computer when this had been purchased. Although some computer manufacturers have already done this, this will come in handy when you have to reinstall this to a unit that has been damaged by a virus.

Second the candidate should know how to implement and conduct the administration of resources. Being part of the IT department, he or she is in charge of giving people access to certain files. Those on top can see everything while those in the bottom more or less will operate on a need to know basis.

Third, is knowing how to implement, manage and troubleshoot hardware devices and folders. When there is something wrong with a computer, the person will call someone from the IT department. There are times that the specialist can do it without even going to the workstation but if one of the things inside is busted, this has to be replaced.

This also includes the repair of input and output (I/O) devices such as printers, scanners, multimedia devices, mouse, scanners, keyboard and smart card reader which are just a few examples of things that are connected to the computer.

Fourth is monitoring and optimizing the system's overall performance and reliability. Computers have to be working at all times and should be 100% error free. The only way to do this will be to check the network's computers regularly.

Fifth is called configuring and troubleshooting the desktop environment. Again, it is this person's responsibility to upgrade the units when changes are being implemented and should problems be encountered along the way, this will be dealt with accordingly.

Lastly is implementing, managing and troubleshooting network protocols and services. This is important because most companies have a server connecting all the computers. These should be functioning at all times so everyone will be able to send and receive data.

MCSE 70-270 is just one of 5 core exams that the candidate has to pass in order to be Microsoft certified. Given that Windows Vista is still new in the market, the person will still have to face this until something else comes along making it obsolete.

You have the choice of making MCSE 70-270 the first one you will take, in the middle or the last. Although the questions are multiple choice, you have to get a score of at least 700 out of 1000 otherwise, you fail.
